In Thursday’s mail arrived the latest installment of experiments from the 3-D printing factory. I wasn’t expecting them this soon! I wanted to post about them before I head off for a ten day adventure in Italy. [I know—poor, poor me!] It will be a little while before I can get into the studio with these, and all the other 3-D components I’ve gathered to date, to begin fabricating them into jewelry pieces—but, I just couldn’t wait to share these samples, that are my favorite, thus far.
This one began, as all the rest did, as a simple line drawing. This time I had them printed in two sizes, 3.5″ x 1.5″ (pendant sized), and 1.125″ x .625″ (earring sized). Also in white, blue and black plastic.
The fun thing about this component is the way it will potentially be combined with others of its kind.
Above are three of them arranged into a larger “thing,” presumably, a pendant.
More samples and combos:
For me, most exciting of all—the ones I had printed in raw brass. NOW we’re getting somewhere…
Pendant sized.
Earring sized.
Together.
Or, as a necklace.
That’s all for now, but you can be certain that the 3-D experiments are not done. I just need to regroup, evaluate, and plan for the next round. Eventually…
Beautiful things. And you can carry them off. Especially doing the passeggiata on the Italian Riviera. I like the black best – very soigné.
Hi, Peter! Thanks for stopping by the old blog, which I seem to have neglected for awhile. I like the black ones, too…
and the Italian Riviera? I wish. Oh, how I wish!!
So not the Riviera but a run-down industrial suburb somewhere, no doubt. But all of Italy has it glamour.
You may never come out of your studio!
Anita,
Definitely potential here. Expect some creative inspirations in Italy. Anticipate great things combining travel discoveries with 3-D printing.
Bon voyage,
Tom Davis
These are the start of something big. I think you could sell these at galleries, they are so distinctive!
WOW! Love it, Anita. You continue to inspire me!
